Research Objectives

The EARLY Lab is housed within the Early Learning Center at Auburn University. This location supports everyday observation and interaction with young children and their families. New research ideas emerge simply from our proximity to classrooms for toddlers and preschoolers. The work of The EARLY Lab centers on early childhood relational health, including shared book reading as a tool for promoting early literacy and caregiver-child relationships, and identification of processes that support family and child well-being from birth to 5 years of age.

Mission Statement

The EARLY lab at Auburn University utilizes a strengths-based lens to conduct research that has immediate impacts in our community. We value our community partners and seek to cultivate and nurture meaningful collaborations that help us expand our reach. Our lab believes in hard work, good timing, and strong relationships. We are a team that celebrates the wins, no matter the size. At the end of the day, we believe that the best work comes from curious and compassionate team members who believe in the transformative power of community-engaged scholarship.
